Dr. Herman Mark was one of the few people I met during my educational career who showed no prejudice or bias concerning intellectual inclusion. He respected my intelligence and his words of encouragement helped me face many challenges in the real world where I faced racism and bias. My decision to chronicle my research rather than spend my career in a traditional research group resulted from my experiences outside of NYU Poly.
